These are some rough ideas and sketches of the student and main character of the film. I have done some minor experiments with colour on the designs that i favoured in regards to this is how i can maybe picture my lead characters appearance. I wanted him to look carribean which in some designs is more so expressed by the colours of his kung fu trousers. I want him to look clearly distinguishable in clothing as well as facial appearance to the master which is why he remains shirtless. The reason for his taped hands is i quite like in my visual research and existing knowledge of fighting arts how some fighters tape their fists to protect them while training and in combat. The trousers are option in terms of length at this point tho i am stornglt leaning toawrds the design that i found when i researched capoeira (design at the very top - black trousers with green & yellow trim) because a character from the video game tekken called eddie gordo is dressed in a format almost along the lines of what i am visualising.
